Happy St. Patrick’s Day
Today is St. Patrick’s Day and it is a huge celebration for the Irish as well as the Irish Americans. My family has celebrated St. Patrick’s Day since I can remember as one of the biggest holidays, next to Christmas of course. My father is Irish coming from the first ward of Buffalo, NY which all the population was of Irish decent and many still live in the area today.
Every year we would go to the St. Patrick’s Day parade and watch the dancers and bagpipe performers as they passed us on their floats. Being an animal lover, my favorite part was seeing the Irish wolf hounds parade down the streets.
Today for St. Patrick’s Day, I am living in New York city and get to see the annual St. Patrick’s Day parade down Fifth ave. This parade is one of the biggest and represents all the counties found in Ireland. I have the luxury of living only a few blocks away from the event and I can hear the drums coming through my windows.
I will be having my traditional dinner tonight of Shepherds Pie and Corn beef. I might even try for the 100th time a sip of Guinness, even though it is a little to strong for me.
Celebrate today the luck of the Irish and Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
