Christmas comes early this year!

I absolutely love the holidays with all the sparkly decorations and joyous songs, but I noticed they are coming extra early this year. Every year it seems as if the stores decorate and put out their holiday merchandise earlier then the year before. When I was younger the stores didn’t even think to put out the holiday season items until after Thanksgiving. Well this year, I was picking up my Halloween candy and the store I was at already put out the Christmas tree. 

Now the holiday season is probably my favorite time of the year, but I like to celebrate Halloween as well, and what about Thanksgiving. I remember my mother decorating for Halloween, then the day after she would put the Thanksgiving decorations up. Christmas decorations didn’t come out until the day after Thanksgiving. The radio stations are jumping in on the early Holiday season as well. I heard my first Christmas song a couple days before Halloween. 

I know that the economy is bad and stores are trying to start the shopping part of this season early to trigger spending, but this season should not only be about shopping. People like to celebrate each holiday separately, and it’s a time for having fun with friends and family. It shouldn’t be about pushing to spend money. The store are loosing money, but families are loosing money just as bad. This holiday season needs to be more about family and memories than buying the latest toy on the market.
