Colin Powell endorses Obama

Former Secretary of State and retired Army General Colin Powell, endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama today. He said that, “We need a president that will not just continue, even with a new face and some changes and with some maverick aspects, will not just continue basically the policies that we have been following in recent years.”

Colin Powell was President Bush’s first Secretary of State. Powell said that he felt both Barack Obama and John McCain are qualified to lead from the White House, but he felt that Sarah Palin, McCain’s choice for VP is not. He also said that Barack was better equipped to deal with the nation’s financial crisis.

We will soon see if his endorsement helps Obama with votes.
