Quilling / Paper Filigree

Quilling / Paper Filigree

I just discovered a form of art that I have seen before, but I never knew that it had a name and that it had an actually classification. Quilling, or paper filigree was born over 500 years ago when artists discovered that narrow strips of paper could be rolled, scrolled, fluted, fringed, and placed on their edges to create beautiful designs.

One artist who makes these wonderful designs is Tracey, the creator of Quilly Nilly, where you can find unique and creative quilled delights. She is a self taught quiller, and have been quilling for a little over 4 years. Tracey always loved working with paper and can I remember when she was a little girl and made an entire bunny family, house and accessories out of paper.

She has a BFA in graphic design and has been working in the paper product industry designing children’s valentine cards, gift wrap, and gift bags. For the past year Tracey has been selling quilled delights in a shop called Handmade Creative Consignments in Bartlett, TN and just opened a shop online so her designs can be available to everyone.

You can find her at…
